SUBJECT:- Recoveries from Shanghai Refugees Committee.

I have the honour to inform you that the sum of
£140-8-3 (One hundred and forty pounds, eight shillings and
three pence) has been agreed by the Chairman of the Shanghai
Refugees Committee, Hong Kong, as the amount due to the Military
Authorities, Hong Kong, for services rendered.
Owing to the accounting difficulties the claim for
payment was delayed and when presented was returned to this office
with the remark that the Committee had ceased to function and that
all communications on the subject of Shanghai Refugees should be
addressed to His Majesty's Consul-General, Shanghai.
A copy of the Committee's letter accepting the charges
together with an amending letter from the Command Paymaster,
Hong Kong, reducing the amount to £140-8-3 (one hundred and forty
pounds, eight shillings and three pence) are forwarded for
information.
Will you please remit this sum at your earliest
convenience.
